In this segment, our speakers will explore the practice area of representing survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Protima Pandey counsels, advises, and assists families and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in various areas of law such as family law, immigration, housing, and public benefits – which are all reliefs available in the civil law practice arena. Professor King-Ries is a former prosecutor specializing in domestic violence. Now he teaches Domestic Violence and Criminal Law (among other courses) and has written numerous articles on the prosecution of domestic violence offences. Our speakers will share with you their career paths, provide invaluable insight into what skills you’ll need to break into this area, what drew them to it, the pros and cons, and what a typical day in their practice entails.
